A showcase of Aretha Franklin’s Jazz roots featuring
DESIREE ROOTS
and special guests!

Aretha Franklin is well known as The Queen of Soul, but in the 1960’s Ms. Franklin performed and recorded Jazz music on television, in clubs and concerts on the same bill with such greats as Thelonious MonkJohn ColtraneArt BlakeyCount Basie and even sang with the iconic Duke Ellington at The Newport Jazz Festival. She continued to use Jazz concepts in much of her music throughout her career.
She hits the sweet spot where jazz, blues and rhythm & blues meet.”
