VA Repertory Theatre and
Richmond Jazz Society Present
“Ella At 100”
November Theatre, Arenstein Stage
April 25, 2017
On April 25th Richmond Virginia joined the thousands (millions?) of people world-wide in celebration of what would have been Ms. Ella Fitzgerald’s 100th Birthday. Richmond Jazz Society’s production “Ella At 100” was an unforgettable night of memories and great music starring Desiree Roots as Ella Fitzgerald and featuring Scott Wichmann as Frank Sinatra, Billy Dye as Louis Armstrong, and Anthony Cosby as Nat “King” Cole.
The show was written and directed by Desiree who transformed herself into the “First Lady of Song”, complete with fabulous outfits by costume designer Keith Walker! The 14-piece orchestra, directed by James “Saxsmo” Gates, included an all-star lineup of some of Virginia’s finest musicians who rose to the occasion magnificently.

Special thanks to VA Repertory Theatre for joining us in presenting this fabulous production. Over 600 people attended, some who traveled from as far away as Southern California. The show was so well received that we’ve already begun receiving requests to perform it again in Richmond, and, in venues around the State. Stay tuned!
Oh Ella, We Love You Madly!
